The brothers of Omega Gamma Gamma Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. proudly stood in support as Councilman J. Michael Evans officially announced his candidacy for Mayor of Centerville. His leadership, dedication to public service, and commitment to community development make him a strong candidate to lead the city forward.
Evans, currently serving his second term on the Centerville City Council, brings a wealth of experience from his 27-year career in the U.S. Air Force Reserve and his work as a Logistics and Program Management Specialist at Robins Air Force Base. Throughout his career, he has been a champion for public safety, responsible spending, and community growth, all of which will be top priorities in his mayoral campaign.
During his announcement, Evans emphasized the importance of ensuring Centerville remains a safe, vibrant, and thriving city. He highlighted the need to strengthen relationships with Robins Air Force Base, expand recreational opportunities, and ensure that affordable housing remains available for families, particularly those connected to the military community.
“Service has always been at the core of who I am,” Evans stated. “My goal is to continue making Centerville a great place to live, work, and raise a family.”
Evans’ dedication to the city is further exemplified by his extensive municipal leadership training, completing over 313 hours of governance education and earning the prestigious Certificate of Dedication from the University of Georgia’s Carl Vinson Institute of Government. His leadership has not gone unnoticed, as former Mayor John Harley recently endorsed Evans, citing his unwavering commitment to the city.
A graduate of The Citadel and a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Evans has always been an advocate for mentorship and community service. As a member of Omega Gamma Gamma, he actively supports youth development programs, veteran outreach initiatives, and community-building efforts. His leadership within the fraternity reflects his deep-rooted passion for service and empowerment.
With four months until Election Day, Evans is committed to engaging with Centerville residents, knocking on doors, and listening to the concerns of the community. His campaign is focused on bringing people together and fostering a city government that is transparent, accountable, and responsive to the needs of its citizens.
The Centerville mayoral election will take place on Tuesday, June 17, with early voting beginning on Tuesday, May 27. The brothers of Omega Gamma Gamma proudly stand behind Brother Evans as he takes this next step in his journey of leadership and service.
